Why official timelines use different milestones
Public-health graphics summarize typical observations, often with rounded dates. They may mean that improvement can begin, not that every receptor has completely recovered.
Smell and taste are connected
Much of what people call flavor comes from aroma reaching the nose. Nasal congestion or infection can therefore change both experiences.
Change can affect eating
Stronger flavor, altered appetite and replacing a hand-to-mouth routine can change eating habits. None of these responses is guaranteed or a measure of quitting success.
What to keep in mind
Common questions
Will everything taste better?
Not necessarily. Some flavors may seem stronger or different, and preference remains individual.
Is 48 hours a guarantee?
No. It is a common rounded milestone, not a personal deadline for full recovery.
