Delivery route explains the form, not the personal choice

Patches provide nicotine through the skin over a longer period. Gum and lozenges release nicotine for absorption through the lining of the mouth; they are medicinal products, not ordinary sweets. The NHS also describes mouth sprays, nasal sprays and medicinal inhalators. Its inhalator description refers mainly to the mouth and throat, not delivery deep into the lungs.

These are examples of designs described in UK guidance, not a list of products available everywhere. A vape, heated-tobacco device or nicotine pouch is not established to be an authorised NRT medicine by looking similar or containing nicotine. Verify the exact category and current local leaflet.

Two time patterns, without a ranking

A patch is described as longer-acting; oral products are described as shorter-acting. “Shorter” does not mean weaker or suitable for everyone, and “longer” does not mean a better product. Route, release pattern and personal suitability answer different questions.

Use the label to turn a name into a precise question

Ask the pharmacist to confirm the active ingredient, form and route, then which official leaflet applies. Product selection, strengths, duration and any combined use require that product’s instructions and qualified assessment. Pregnancy, age and other medicines cannot be settled by this form comparison.
